Car Shows and National Quartet Convention

Car Shows

Fall is quickly approaching and with that knowledge, we all know that the Car Shows are about to happen in Pigeon Forge! Car enthusiasts from all over make their way down to this area to enjoy two weekends in Downtown where you have the opportunity to see hundreds of hot rods and vehicles of the past and present. Thousands of people travel from all over to take part in the car shows. There are vendors (parts and such), sellers, consumers, onlookers, groupies, and locals! Let’s talk about when these events are and what you can expect. Start your engines and let’s get ready to rock and roll!

There are two 2018 Fall Car Shows that bring thousands of people to East Tennessee. The first car show is the Shades of the Past. This car show takes place at Dollywood’s Splash Country September 7th and 8th. There are over 200 hot rods expected to compete for the grand prizes consisting of a 1932 Ford Hi-Boy Roadster and a $10,000 cash prize.

The following weekend, September 13th through the 15th,  kicks off the second of the 2018 Fall Car Shows, the Pigeon Forge Fall Rod Run. This very popular event is located at the LeConte Center at Pigeon Forge. What is so great about both of these car shows is you can still enjoy the view of a variety of cars, both old, new, and some wild creations, while not attending the actual car show. Folks line up along the Pigeon Forge Parkway, with their camping chairs to see the many cars that make their way into town. People travel both near and far to experience these popular gatherings. It is one of the best times to be in Pigeon Forge for car lovers.

Most people that visit during car show weekends have been doing so for years. It has turned into their home away from home. I know that we have built relationships with a lot of our repeat car show guests. We always look forward to seeing familiar faces and catching up a bit. It is simply a fun time of year and something to look forward to.

National Quartet Convention

The National Quartet Convention is a popular gospel gathering that has been held in Pigeon Forge, at the LeConte Convention Center, in recent years. Thousands of people make plans to attend. This year the dates for the event are September 23rd through the 29th. Attendees will get to see top gospel singers and groups like the Talleys, Mark Bishop, Kingdom Heirs, Jeff & Sherri Easter, Karen Peck & New River and many, many more. There are hundreds of artists and exhibitors all week long. You can find more information on attending the National Quartet Convention and who will be performing on their website.

If you are a guest of ours at Cedar Lodge or staying at one of our other properties, Rocky Top Tours will be driving our guests to the convention from the property for a small fee to lessen the congestion on the Parkway and roads and to make it easier for guests attending the convention. You can read more about the pricing and sign up for the shuttle by visiting Rocky Top Tours website.

Also, for those of you that are attending, be sure to check out the NQC souvenir shop and grab yourself some apparel for the shows.
