New attraction alert! We have just heard some very exciting news that we need to share with all of you. The Wilderness Resorts and Waterparks has recently announced that they are planning to open a brand new and incredible waterpark here in town. With an estimated opening goal of some time in the summer of 2020, we will be able to welcome Soaky Mountain Waterpark in Sevierville (who else loves the name as much as we do? So punny) to our endless list of fun-filled family entertainment in the Smokies. We aren’t joking when we say this is going to be gigantic and filled with tons of fun and thrilling ways to cool off and beat the spring and summer heat. There will be something for everyone here so you can easily spend a day hanging out with the family and making unforgettable memories to take home with you. Nothing beats spending a day in the refreshing water when it’s bright and sunny outside, we need to soak up the sunshine and get those summer tans while we can, am I right?!

The Soaky Mountain Waterpark in Sevierville will be located across the street from the Sevierville Convention Center and the already well known Wilderness at the Smokies Resort on 66 at 175 Gists Creek Road. This $90 million waterpark will span for about 50 acres and, according to Knox news, it will feature thrilling amusement park-sized slides and much, much more. We can only imagine how amazing this new attraction is going to be and to say we’re looking extremely forward to it would be the understatement of the year. They announced that Soaky Mountain will feature a brand new water coaster that is unique and completely one of a kind, we can’t wait to hear more on this as time goes on. For those of us that love the wave pools, theirs is going to be 35,000 feet long with waves up to six feet high, see you all in the water! The younger kids will have their own special area with smaller slides and a pool where they can splash around safely. Ever wanted to try surfing but haven’t had the chance to do so? They will have a surf simulator that we’re sure to be lining up to try. There will also be a rafting tower so you can go on an adventure with the family as they fit up to five people on them. There’s also going to be a tubing tower, a couple of high-intensity body slides, a four-lane slide where you can race each other on specialty designed mats, a cabana pool, a 24,000 square foot lazy river of sorts, an adventure pool with a water obstacle course, and more. If this doesn’t scream excitement then I don’t know what does!

As far as we know, their opening season will span from mid-May until August with some select dates in September that will probably be weather dependent, but no hours have been decided on quite yet. They just had their ground-breaking on Tuesday and thanks to the actual developers, Knox News and many other news stations, this is where we’ve received a lot of our information regarding this new attraction. The developers of the park announced that they estimate that it will create around 500 full time, part time, and even seasonal career opportunities for the area. It’s going to be built on a mountainside which will feature lush greenery all around it. The sketch they’ve released truly shows how big and beautiful this new waterpark is going to be and just how many fun activities that will be added to it. It will sure be exciting to see how all the phases are going when you drive out that way, we know it will be a long but fantastic process. Can they please open now?!

This is going to fit in so well with the other waterparks we have in the area. Don’t forget that Dollywood’s Splash Country and Wilderness at the Smokies still have excitement waiting for us as we wait for the newest addition to be added to the group. All of them offer a little something special and it will be so much fun to try them all out and see what we enjoyed most about each one of them. Splash Country has my personal favorite lazy river because it’s surrounded by gorgeous scenery of the mountains around it. Wilderness has the big tornado ride that you can’t miss when you get into town. Don’t forget that you can purchase discounted tickets at all of our front offices to Splash Country in Pigeon Forge. Summer is still going strong and you’ll want to visit this wonderful park before the season is officially over.

We hope you’re as excited as we are about the new Soaky Mountain Waterpark in Sevierville. It looks like it’s going to have so many one of a kind and thrilling activities for us all to enjoy while visiting the park. It really sounds like this is going to be an incredible and huge park full of non-stop family fun in the sun. We’re all anxiously awaiting their opening and we will definitely keep you updated as we hear more information about the project. For now, what they are promising to deliver is sure to amaze us waterpark enthusiasts! Which part are you most excited about? For me, it’s gotta be the wave pool and the new water coaster.
